PUBHLTH 460 - Telling Stories with Data

I assisted Professor Nick Reich in teaching 60 students during the Fall 2023 semester. The course is meant to equip students with the skills to tell compelling stories from real-world data, giving students experience summarizing, visualizing, modeling, and analyzing data using the R programming language.

My core responsibilities included helping lead lectures, hosting in-person/virtual office hours, and providing feedback on assignments.

Lectures

I helped answer students' questions in class and facilitated group discussions.

Office Hours

I held two office hours a week over Zoom and in a classroom. Students typically came to my office hours asking clarifying questions about course material and assignments. Meeting with a variety of students, I learned to translate concepts and break ideas down for people with different levels of experience.

Grading Assignments

I made sure to provide detail in my feedback so that students understood why they received a certain grade. I highlighted students' strengths and I also let students know if there were areas for improvement.
